I went to pick up my dry cleaning the other day and had a very poignant conversation with the attendant. He shared a story with me about a friend of his that had been drinking with a group of friends near a set of train tracks. They were boasting about how they could jump the train if one came by and then they heard a train coming. One of the guys challenged his friend to jump the train and so he took the challenge on and attempted to jump the train. As a result of this choice, his friend slipped and caught his foot under the train. He lost his foot. Here is a young man, early twenties, who began his day with two feet and ended it with one. Life is about making choices every day. Lesson learned—make the good ones.
